About Mariana

Mariana Velasquez is a food stylist with more than a decade styling amongst New York’s most celebrated culinary circles and publications across the globe. A tastemaker who explores the intersection between food, fashion and art, Mariana’s work is an edible canvas where she invites the viewer to eat with their eyes.

She is a published author of two recipe books and has styled, art directed, developed recipes and collaborated on more than twenty cookbooks throughout her career. She was selected among some of the country’s best to food style American Grown, by First Lady Michelle Obama, a project that took her career into the White House kitchen and garden.

Her styling work has been featured in the New York Times, Vogue, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Wine Spectator, Southern Living, Fine Cooking, Rachel Ray Magazine, O Magazine, Cooking Light, InStyle, amongst many others.

Publishing credentials include two James Beard Book Award recipients and collaborations with John Wiley and Sons, Taunton, Crown Publishing, Chronicle Books, Ecco, Random House, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Ediciones Gamma (Latin America), Gastronómica de Mexico (Latin America), MNR Comunicaciones (Latin America) and others currently in progress.

Her roster of clients comprises The White House, The New York Times, Williams Sonoma, Cooking Channel, Haagen Dazs, Kraft, Tequila Avion, Dole, Nestle, Macy’s, Target, Wal Mart, Alpina, Carulla, Gilt Groupe, Qreme and others.

This cooking journey began at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur California and across the country to Prune in New York City, to the test kitchens of Saveur and Eating Well magazines. Now, Mariana is designing a collection of kitchen textiles and her signature aprons to further expand her personal brand. She is curating a line of kitchenwares soon to be launched in her native Colombia and in New York.

Mariana is available for creative direction,professional hosting, recipe development, television appearances and of course food styling, both in English and Spanish. She is represented by Big Leo.

She is a passionate admirer of film, is an avid art collector and firmly believes that shaved ice is a mere vehicle for sweetened condensed milk -one of her guilty pleasures.
